WEEK 1: SELECTING SUPERVISOR, MEETING AND PROPOSE FYP IDEA

FIND, MEET AND PROPOSE AN IDEA FOR FINAL YEAR PROJECT

Activity: 

• Ask recommendation from friends.
• Ask lecturer for availability.
• Meeting with Supervisor (Dr. Mohd Zaki Ayob)
• Propose an idea for final year project

Objective:

1. To find suitable supervisor for Final Year Project.
2. To propose my project idea.
3. To make sure my proposed project is realistic. 

Content:

After doing several searches looking for a supervisor and ask for lecturer availability, I decided to choose Dr. Mohd Zaki Ayob as my supervisor, he is very welcoming and supportive.

 

Dr. Mohd Zaki Ayob is a Senior Lecturer with more than 20 years teaching and research experience. He experienced project supervisor and trainer. More than 20 years of Final Year Project management experience in hardware and software implementations at HND, Diploma and Degree levels. He able to convey information clearly, recognize excellence in individuals and inspire team members to achieve their potential while working toward common goals. Demonstrated track record of successfully managing small to large projects from start to finish. Currently into Machine Learning since completing PhD.

I have proposed some of my idea and asked my supervisor for advice and opinion regarding my project.

My proposed project is:

1. Computer vision-based project to measure fish size.
2. Computer vision-based project to count the fish.
3. Computer vision-based project to monitor fish behavior.

Result:

After several discussions with my supervisor, we chose computer vision-based project to measure fish size as my final year project. We plan to collaborate with Fisheries Research Institute Malaysia.
